Jerry was born and grew up in E. St. Louis, IL and studied piano as a boy for 10 years from a private teacher in
Belleville, IL. He began teaching private piano after graduating from high school and did so for 15 years with a full schedule
of some 70 private students weekly. He played for his first quartet at 19 (Chapelaires) and traveled throughout the Midwest
for many years. In 1968 Jerry married Geraldine (Jerri) Hicks, and in 1971 they relocated to Memphis, TN where he traveled
as pianist with The Coachmen whose ministry spanned 20 states. Later they lived in Nashville where Jerry continued teaching
piano and having previously learned the piano tuning trade began working under the tutelage of an older, skilled technician
until Jerry mastered the trade. Upon returning to Jerri's home town of Granite City, IL from 1974 - 1984, Jerry continued
his music career. The Malone's relocated to Kalamazoo, MI in 1984 where Jerry built a thriving piano tuning business of
some 1200+ clients and in 2005 retired, due to a chronic painful back and arm condition, and sold the business after 35 years
in the trade. He served as pianist for the Helmsmen Quartet lastly for almost 4 years, a southern gospel quartet based out
of SW Michigan, MI. It has only been since about 2006 that Jerry has been able to devote his full time to playing again. "So
Blessed" is Jerry's 9th recording project, (2nd piano solo project), and his 7th quartet project. "How Bright
The Shore" released in September of 2008 was his first solo project. Jerry's playing has been billed as "Sacred Piano Music At Its Finest"--with a touch of Classical,
Southern Gospel, Contemporary, Jazz, Pop and Praise and Worship. Jerry and Jerri have two daughters and spouses and four grandchildren
who also live in Michigan. Jerry and Jerri make their home in Schoolcraft, Michigan.
